About Osteoporosis and its causes

Nowadays approximately 10 % of the population suffers under a type of osteoporosis. Due to an increase in the senior part of the population, there is also an increase in the frequency of this disease, since there is no sufficient or rather appropriate food and vitamin supply for the bones.
The development of the bones begins in the embryo phase out of the connective tissue. Only at the age of between 25 and 30 is the maximum or rather the peak amount of bone mass reached, which ideally doesn’t change in the coming years. To preserve an optimal state (as in the combination of appropriate exercise and quality in nutrition for strong bones) is almost impossible.

The structure of a strong bone mass is influenced by:

  • sex hormones,
  • neglected physical exercise,
  • loss of teeth,
  • genetically tendency
  • Diseases: Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism, and considering the teeth the so called Parodontosis.

Healthy Nutrition for strong bones and teeth.

Nowadays, it is much harder to obtain a sufficient supply on useful nutrient for strong bones, than it was back in the day. A majority of our foods contain a lot of preservatives, which are harmful for strong bones. With the help of appropriate nutrition, as in food for strong bones, is osteoporosis preventable, or if it is already present it can be mitigated.

The bone tissue is an active and living fabric, which continuously reshapes itself. For the reshaping an appropriate amount of nutrients as in calcium is needed, so the calcium demand is secured. Furthermore one should pay attention to an appropriate input, as well as to an optimal combination of nutrients in order to have a balanced menu to preserve strong bones.
Besides usual dental examination and the appropriate maintenance of teeth, one should take into consideration Western Europee of a bone structure specific nutrition. With the help and care of certain foods for strong bones it is possible to obtain or preserve strong bones.

Products which aren’t eligible foods for strong bones:

  • White flour: Cereal products represent approximately 25-30 % of an average nutrition. Due to refinement a lot of necessary vitamins and mineral nutrients for food get lost. The loss of such causes unrecognizable damage in the bone structure and harms strong bones. It is hard to obtain a fix and strong bones if one consumes white flour products in the long-term. It is much better to consume whole grain (flour) products to retain strong bones. Whole grain products have a distinguished dietetic role, since these contain a sufficient amount of required ingredients useful for the bone structure.
  • Refined sugar: Refined sugar contains neither mineral nutrients nor vitamins for foods. This type of sugar doesn’t have positive effects, only effects that are noxious for health and strong bones. The calcium metabolism is influenced by refined sugar. With a long term refined sugar supply, due to sugar’s noxious effects on yet strong bones, calcium is derived from the bones.
  • Protein: With regard to exaggerated protein consumption certain metabolism products are formed in human body, which stagnate the blood and other organs. A great amount of proteins, despite an appropriate mineral nutrient consumption, is able to deprive calcium from strong bones. It is advised to consume plant protein, instead of animal protein, since those only increase and speed up the process of osteoporosis.
  • Meat products: The bone metabolism is influenced negatively by a great consumption of meat and meat products. As mentioned before, the quantity and the quality of animal protein accelerates the process of osteoporosis. The consumption of foods rich in meat products and cold cuts has an accelerating effect, which causes calcium deprivation from strong bones. Furthermore, such foods can replace already lost bone structure substances even more difficultly than any other foods.
  • Caffeine containing beverages: The consumption of coffee, black tea and coke are harmful for strong bones. However, the consumption of carbonated beverages is good for the bone structure, since the acid of such beverages is modulated with phosphorus. Important to know is that phosphorus is capable of binding calcium.
  • Alcohol: The consumption of alcoholic beverages disturbs both physiological processes and the metabolism, which are essential for calcium generation and binding. Herewith an inadequate consumption of alcoholic beverages has a negative effect on the bone structure.
  • Furthermore, the consumption of an inadequate amount of salt is harmful for calcium generation and binding, therefore for strong bones as well.

Vitamin for bones:

The following vitamins and mineral nutrient for bones combined with calcium play an important role when it comes to the forming and preserving of a stable bony tissue. In combination with each other vitamins, mineral nutrients and calcium also influence the bone metabolism.

  • Vitamin-D enforces calcium binding and helps the bone structure, since Vitamin D is good for strong bones. Vitamin D amplifies calcium binding out of the bowel,
decreases the deprivation of calcium and helps the bone structure as well.
Sources of Vitamin-D: liver, eggs, milk, milk products and fish oil.
  • Vitamin-K plays an important role in the synthesis of bone protein as well as with the forming of the bone matrix. (Mineral nutrients are built into the bone protein. With the lack of Vitamin K the damaged proteins are unable to bind mineral nutrients. This can occur as a consequence of an exaggerated use of antibiotics.)
Sources of Vitamin K: broccoli, salad, herb, tomatoes, milk and milk products, liver.
  • Vitamin B6 is essential for the muscle and other tissue structures, the structure of necessary proteins and for the production of enzymes. Vitamin B6 helps the cartilage and bone structure as well.
  • Folic acid: is essential for a healthy development of foetal medulla in the first three months after conception. Folic acid plays an important role when it comes to the binding of homocysteine, an amino acid which is especially harmful for the bone system.
  • Phosphorus: The phosphorus supply must be taken into consideration as well as its comparable value with calcium. Ideally, is the calcium: phosphor rate either 1:1 or 1,5:1. If both of these nutrients are present in the same amount, phosphor helps calcium binding into the bone structure and decreases its deprivation. However, there is a greater amount of phosphorus present than the amount of calcium, certain mechanisms try to decrease the amount of phosphorus. Then again, with theses processes calcium will be released out of the bones.
Sources of Phosphorus: Meat products and oil-seeds.
  • Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant, which protects the cells from harmful effects and oxidation. Furthermore, Vitamin-C helps with the forming of certain structured proteins of bones as well as of cruciate ligaments of protein molecules.
Sources of Vitamin C: apples, fruits, sour kraut and vegetables.
  • Magnesium has an important role when it comes to the production of enzymes, the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Magnesium is essential for the structure and soundness of the bones, teeth and gingivitis. Furthermore magnesium influences the shape of lime crystals that are built into the bones.
  • Manganese is necessary for the drive and functioning lot of enzymes. For the generation of certain enzymes is manganese indispensable. It plays an important role when it comes to the structure and development of bones, as well as with the generation of thyroid hormones, which modulate the speed of metabolism.

Treatment of bone and teeth problems with Herbs:

  • Common Horsetail enhances and increases bone structure or rather serves as an intensifier for several tissues, referring by that also to the strongest tissue the bones and the teeth. Common horsetail is necessary in order to prevent osteoporosis, preserve strong bones and to treatments with herbs.
    (More to read about:Common Horsetail)
  • Geniste Tinctoria is a herb which is nowadays more and more focused on in sciences, since it contains a secondary plant substance, so called genistein, which belongs to phytoestrogenics. (More to read:Geniste Tinctoria )
  • Poppy-seed oil: Besides it positive effects, poppy-seed oil contains a great amount of phosphorus. Phosphorus is known for its fast effect on calcium binding into the bone structure. Furthermore, poppy-seed oil is a healthy food for strong bones, which proves its effects rather in the long-term.
  • Bone graft: In case of bone and teeth loss, a bone graft is a good solution

One has to be cautious with bone structure drugs! Researchers of the Illinois University have found that initially an increase in the quantity of Vitamin D and calcium through healthy nutrients and tablets is more than enough.

“For a lot of people Western Europee of drugs is adequate as the second best option.”
